Bellingham District Schools
The Bellingham Public School District is an award-winning school system, which consists of 13 elementary schools, four middle schools, and three high schools. It's estimated that an average of 10,200 students are currently enrolled in Bellingham District Schools. This makes it the largest of the seven school districts located in the Whatcom County area. If you move to Bellingham, you certainly won't have to worry about your children receiving a good education. This is rather evident when you examine the distict's national and state test scores. In fact, the Bellingham high school students who took the SAT in 2005 scored on average 10 percent higher than the rest of the nation. However, high school students are not the only ones excelling in Bellingham. According to the district's latest annual progress report, 81 percent of its fourth graders and 71 percent of its seventh graders met or surpassed the state reading standard. In addition to the outstanding Bellingham Public Schools, the region is host to several renowned private schools and a highly accredited home schooling program.
